28.04.09 - Skerries U-10’s win Metro Bowl

Skerries U-10’s captured the Metro Bowl on Sunday with a heart-stopping “Golden Try” victory over Terenure. This was Mini’s rugby at its best with a skill level on show that will give both clubs great confidence for the future. The commitment of both sets of players, coupled with the enthusiastic support from the sidelines made for a match of the highest quality. Skerries got off to a flying start with tries from Hugo Lennox and Michael Carron but Terenure would not let them have it all their own way and fought back to level the match with the last play in ordinary time. After withstanding a period of huge Terenure pressure in extra-time, Skerries broke downfield and Ruairi Gielty scored the winning try to wild celebrations.

Gerry Carron and his team of coaches deserve great credit for their work with these lads and all concerned should feel very proud. Congratulations! - click here to view match photos

20.04.09 - Munster vs Leinster ticket news

The Leinster Branch has decided that the majority of tickets for the May 2nd Semi-Final vs Munster at Croke Park will be allocated to Leinster Rugby Club Season Ticket holders and those who purchased Leinster Rugby Six-Pack tickets. Skerries progressed to the semi-final of the Provincial Towns Plate with a comfortable win 0f 28-13 over Carlow at Holmpatrick on Sunday. A leisurely crowd, many still recovering from the exertions of the previous night-into-day Presidents Dinner, watched a leisurely game in the sunshine as a Skerries team eased past Carlow. Nonetheless, as our Hon. Sec. pointed out on the night before, this competition has been a platform for success in the past and that may well be the case for the future with the likes of the Eoghan Dempsey,Ray Otto and Eddie O’Mahoney staking a claim for future honours.
