Skerries Community College vs High School

Skerries CC overcame High School in a hard fought 1st round of the Vinny Murray Cup at Malahide on Weds 20th. Although they were the more superior team throughout, Skerries fell behind from an intercept try by High School in the first half. Missing Sherlock and Dempsey, Skerries could not come to terms with the High School pressing defence play and were held scoreless for the entire first half.

A change of tactics by the coaches saw Skerries play to the strength and fitness of their forwards in the second half. Keeping the game tight and working through good possession, they got their rewards with well worked tries by Captain Chris Tonge and man-of-the-match, second-row Alan O’Connor.

Skerries CC play Monkstown next Wed. and will be glad to have come through this tough test as they look forward to a good campaign.
