Recruiting Director of Rugby – Skerries Rugby Club

Skerries Rugby Football Club is seeking to appoint a full‑time Director of Rugby to lead, develop, and promote rugby across all levels of the Club as we approach our historic centenary season, beginning September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and motivated rugby professional to shape the future of the game in Skerries and the wider community.

Role Overview:

The Director of Rugby will be responsible for the strategic and operational development of rugby within the Club, with a particular emphasis on:

  • Minis and Youths Programmes – strengthening structures, ensuring a clear player pathway, and fostering a fun, inclusive environment for young players.
  • School of Excellence – driving player and coach development through high‑quality, structured programmes.
  • Coach & Volunteer Support – guiding, mentoring, and providing ongoing assistance to all coaches and volunteers throughout the Club.
  • Community Engagement – promoting the game locally, building relationships with schools and community groups, and supporting recruitment across all ages and abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow minis, youths, girls, and adult rugby programmes.
  • Promote and support participation in refereeing, coaching, and general volunteering within the Club.
  • Maintain and uphold the Club ethos of participation, inclusivity, and community spirit.
  • Oversee player development pathways from grassroots to senior rugby.
  • Coordinate the delivery and expansion of the School of Excellence.
  • Recruit, mentor, and support all coaches, ensuring best practice and consistency across all age grades.
  • Work closely with the Club committees to develop long‑term rugby plans and centenary‑focused initiatives for the 2026/2027 season.
  • Engage with local schools and community partners to drive rugby awareness and participation.
  • Manage rugby‑related operations, scheduling, and communication across the Club.
  • Represent Skerries RFC with professionalism in all internal and external engagements.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in rugby coaching, development, or administration.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • A passion for community‑based rugby and youth development.
  • The ability to inspire players, coaches, and volunteers.
  • Flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and enjoyable rugby environment.
