All rugby activities OFF – Corona Virus Update 14/3/20

The IRFU have announced “the suspension of all domestic rugby until 29/03 inclusive, based on latest government advice. Future domestic rugby activity & fixtures will be reviewed in line with government advice. This notice affects ALL rugby in Ireland, across clubs, schools, from minis to adult rugby, and includes TRAINING & MATCHES.”

Our Club Executive have decided to completely close our Club pitches, Clubhouse & facilities to all activities, until 29th March inclusive.

This closure includes Club Bar, gym, renters of the club / classes. This also includes pitches, which are now closed to all activity. The main gates have also also been closed. We ask parents to inform children of this, that club pitches are not for use, even on an individual basis.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but we are making all decisions on the best advice available.

It must be noted that we are a club, not a business. We do not have the resources available to a business to manage deep cleaning & ongoing sanitisation of the clubhouse & facilities.

Nor should we take the increased risks posed by this, for what is hopefully a short period of time.

We will continue to issue updates as available, in what is a very dynamic environment for us all.

Best advice remains: Good hand hygiene (washing frequently), good cough/sneeze hygiene, and social distancing.

I personally recommend we support all local businesses whenever possible through these times. These are difficult times for them, and we all want our great town to come out of this as one, together.

Yours in Sport,

Carl Birney,

Hon. Sec. Skerries RFC
