Club President & Chairman Message

Firstly, we thank you all for your support for our club community-based COVID-19 fundraiser, which has enabled us to play our part in supporting local front-line staff who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to support our vulnerable people in these extraordinary times.

The club has effectively been in lockdown since 13th March with all facilities & both pitches closed. It was a very disappointing end of season for our first team: although leading Division 2C of the All Ireland League, the IRFU decided there would be no promotion or relegation in any of the five league divisions. Our second team were winners of Leinster Metro3 League, a wonderful achievement for the players & coaches. Our Under 20 and youth teams were unable to finish the season, which was a huge disappointment to everyone involved. We will all return stronger and fully focused for next season.

Congratulations to Paul O’Loghlen on being awarded Division 2C AIL player of the year, and now in the running for overall AIL player of the year. The Energia AIL awards take place online this Friday night. Paul has had a tremendous season and fully deserves this recognition.

The administration of the club continues remotely, with Club Committee meetings held online. We intend to hold our club AGM on Friday 19th June and this will be held online via Zoom. Full details to follow in the coming weeks.

Re-opening of our facilities are well down the road and all actions will be completed in line with government health guidelines & IRFU return to play guidelines. We will keep you informed as things develop.

As you are aware, two of our key annual events are held in July: our golf fundraising day and our minis summer camp. Both of these events have been deferred and decisions will be made in coming weeks on finding alternative dates, if possible.

We thank our Lotto team for conducting the weekly Lotto online and we would ask you to support this weekly draw as it is one of our only sources of income at the present time. Details are on the club website & in the weekly newsletter.

It is important now that we look after one another and continue to follow government guidelines. In due course, we will see light at the end of the tunnel and a return to the game that we all love.

Stay Safe,
