I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our members, supporters, visiting teams and match officials to Holmpatrick for the coming season.
It is a fantastic honour for me to be asked to represent Skerries RFC as President and I am really looking forward to traveling with our teams and supporters, visiting other clubs in the season ahead and meeting as many of you as possible.
It was a remarkable achievement by our senior players to have completed the 2022/23 so successfully given the challenges faced with players moving on and great to see new players coming through and making their presence felt. Our success was due to all of the hard work by everyone involved in all aspects of the club and everyone’s contribution is very much appreciated.
The success of our first team squad has been an inspiration throughout the club. Our mini and youths sections continue to thrive and did us proud last season in presenting Club President Padraic Connolly with so many plaques from their achievements in the North East leagues. The future bodes well for our senior teams when you see some of the emerging talent coming through the ranks.
I would also like to acknowledge the contribution of Mark Harrington, whose influence in establishing the coaching structures has been immense and he was a very worthy recipient of the clubman of the year award.
To our Chairman of Rugby, Derek O’Sullivan, Club Captain, Kevin McGrath and all of our players, management and coaches of all Skerries RFC teams, you have really embraced the spirit of rugby at our club and truly made us an inclusive club, wishing each and everyone of you a successful and enjoyable season ahead.
We want to welcome Pam Ericson Girls Rugby Coordinator and it is our intention to continue to grow this very important part of our club and all support for Pam would be appreciated.
I have enjoyed working on our committee over the last number of years and have seen first hand the dedication and commitment of our members and volunteers without whom our club would not function. I would like to encourage anyone who feels they can lend a hand to get involved and volunteer in whatever capacity you can assist. I can guarantee that you will be made most welcome.
A special word of thanks to our generous sponsors for their continued support, which is very much appreciated. I would be obliged if all our members can support them whenever and wherever possible.
